Are you willing to pay the price?
So this week’s email is delayed by a day.. on purpose. I went to see Chris Williamson and I thought it would be great to share one of my favourite bits of wisdom from the Modern Wisdom podcast host. There was A LOT I could share but here’s a little something for you to think about when creating your 2025 goals.
What level of sacrifice are you willing to make?
With every goal, there will be a level of sacrifice you need to make and you need to make sure this level fits with your goal.
Look at those who were right at the top of their game.. Tiger Woods, incredible golfer, terrible husband. He was so focused on being the best golfer in the world he sucked at most other things because that’s what it takes to be the greatest of all time.
Now, don’t go and be a terrible partner but here’s how what Chris says is going to help you.
If you’re someone who can barely run a mile, going for a sub 4 hour marathon next year is going to take a lot of dedication and time. Do you have that time? Do you even want to give up being social for the next 4-5 months in order to achieve this?
Or maybe you’re looking to lose fat. You’re currently at 30% bodyfat looking to drop down to 10% in just 3 months. Could it be done? Yeah, maybe, but are you ready to feel tired ALL the time? Eating out, social drinks, a bit of a treat on the weekend.. forget it.
This is where a lot of people fail. They set huge goals but do not want to sacrifice their life for it, which is completely fair.
We’re not aiming to be the best in the world, we’re just looking to improve our lives a bit. Feel stronger, run faster or look better naked.
Every goal means a change in your life, after all there is no change without change, which means forfeiting some part of your current life.
But make it work for you. Make the trade off worth it.
